Bladder issues affect many women regardless of age. They can be extremely uncomfortable and in some cases very embarrassing.

Common bladder issues include:

đź”·Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
đź”·Incontinence
đź”·Overactive Bladder
đź”·Interstitial cystitis (also known as bladder pain syndrome)

Bladder dysfunction can be caused by pregnancy, childbirth, hormonal changes, being overweight or certain medical conditions, but in many cases the cause is the brain’s inability to adapt to chronic low levels of stress.

Urinary incontinence is one of the most common bladder issues in women. As you can imagine, UI seriously impacts quality of life and takes an emotional toll on the women who suffer from it.

In a study of 21 patients with daily stress and occasional UI, ages 13-93, who were under regular chiropractic care, concluded that all the patients in the study showed improvement in UI symptoms that persisted over time as a result of chiropractic care.

Everyday, we are exposed to stress whether it be chemical, physical or emotional stress. Too much of this stress moves your nervous system from a parasympathetic state (rest and digest) into more of a sympathetic state, also known as fight or flight. Fight or flight is the body’s physiological response to a perceived threat. Over time this stress on the brain and nervous system can create numerous health issues such as the bladder issues we are speaking of here.

Chiropractors help to restore the balance between the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system (healing nervous system) through chiropractic adjustments by reducing stress on the brain and nervous system.

This balance allows your body to adapt to the environment so that it can function the way it should when it should… including normalizing bladder function.

If you or someone you know suffers from bladder issues, give our office a call to see how we can help.
