Disclaimer: If you subscribe to and believe in the germ theory, you may be turned-off by this post. (Or you may be turned-on to a better way of thinking.)

The truth is that the germ theory has been disproven time and time again, and a simple Google search will provide you plenty of food for thought on that front. But let’s think about it logically, with a situation you’re probably familiar with.

You go home after a day of work or school and discover that a family member has the flu or a cold. Let’s also say there are four people living in your house, but only two get sick. Why is that? Did the flu virus visit just two of them?

Sadly, the flu virus isn’t the tooth fairy. It’s a bit less discriminating. That virus is everywhere in your house. It’s impossible to hide from it. You’re all going to be exposed to it no matter what you do, and there’s no way around that. (Unless you put yourself in a bubble.)

The bottom line is, it’s impossible to avoid germs. It’s impossible to not expose yourself to the flu virus. Which means your body must be able to resist that virus, or that germ. And it’s only by resisting or fighting those viruses and germs, that you’re able to avoid illness and even disease. But if your body allows the virus in, lets it set up shop and grow and thrive … guess what? You’ll get sick.

Subsequently, if your body prevents that germ or virus from setting up camp, making its home in your system, you won’t get sick. So how do we that?

Tip #1 – Stay Hydrated

Let’s get this out of the way immediately. Diet Coke isn’t hydration. (Please don’t drink diet soda.) Coffee isn’t hydration. Herbal tea, while good for you, is also not hydration. Hydration means water. Clean, pure water.

Your body requires a proper pH level to thrive. You can’t be too acidic. And you can’t be too alkaline, though that’s rarely a concern for most of us. When your body is too acidic, you invite those germs and viruses into your system. Your body wants a slightly alkaline environment, and if you can provide that, you limit your chances of getting sick, and this even includes cancer, as cancer cannot live in an alkaline environment.

Think about a swimming pool that becomes too acidic. What happens? Algae begins to grow, bugs begin to swarm. They love the acidity. Then when you shock the water, and bring the pH level back to neutral, that algae and those bugs disappear. And you’re able to enjoy that pool again.

If you’re not properly hydrating yourself, your body is likely too acidic, which means your system is at an optimal environment where virus, germs, and cancer cells can thrive.

Ideally, you’ll want to consume half your body weight in ounces of water every day. Which means if you weigh 150 pounds, you want to consume 75 ounces of fresh, pure water each day. Now if you’re not used to consuming that much water, you may have to build-up slowly, and add 5-10 ounces each day.

Tip #2 – Decrease Stress

Stress can be physical, chemical, or emotional. When it comes to physical stress, make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Make sure you’re getting enough exercise, though not too much, as too much exercise can also overstress your body. Make sure you’re not sitting too much, staring at your computer or phone for too long. All these physical stressors have a negative impact on your body’s immune system.

Emotional stress can take its toll. Journaling, meditating, relaxing in a hot bath, reading or just “unplugging” for awhile are great ways to help combat this type of stress. Thinking negative thoughts? Try focusing on what you’re grateful and the positive thoughts will come.

Chemical stress can include toxins in foods, or foods you’re allergic to, or have sensitivities to like dairy or gluten. If you drink too much caffeine, too many sugary drinks, too many fake sugars, this adds chemical stress. Think about all your hygiene products, your makeup, deodorant, toothpaste. Toxins are everywhere.

If you didn’t catch our last post, we discussed how fluoride has now been labeled a neurotoxin. So be sure your toothpaste is fluoride-free, and that you’re not drinking tap water if that’s a concern in your area.

Chemical toxins, just like physical stress, overload your immune system. As does too much emotional stress.

When you’re under emotional stress, your breathing patterns change, and your brain releases chemicals to help you deal with that stress. In a normal fight-or-flight response, like escaping a burning building, those chemicals are fantastic and life-saving. But when it’s long-term, as in chronic – all day every day – this lowers your body’s immune response and its ability to fight illness and disease.

Tip #3 – Regular Chiropractic Adjustments

I cannot stress this one enough. While tips one and two are going to aid you a great deal in your ability to ward off illness and disease, this is the one area that needs attention the most. And sadly, either people don’t know, or do know and just don’t do it.

Dr. Ronald Pero, Ph.D., chief of cancer prevention research at New York’s Preventive Medicine Institute and professor of medicine at New York University), published more than 150 studies on cancer patients and their immune systems. He found that patients that got regular chiropractic adjustments had much greater immune function – 200% greater than the average person, and 400% greater than those with chronic disease.

Now, he wasn’t looking for this outcome, and even stated that he had never seen anything in his life that was able to increase immune function that much.

Get regular chiropractic adjustments!

If you do all three of these things – properly hydrate your body, decrease your exposure to physical, chemical, and emotional stress, and get regular chiropractic adjustments, your chances of getting the flu this season are slim to none. Of course, if you want to forego our advice, you could always build yourself a personal bubble to live in.

The nervous system is the most important system in the body because it controls and regulates every system in your body. It does this by allowing your brain to send specific messages to every cell, tissue, organ, muscle and joint in your entire body. When this communication becomes interfered your body will not function as it should and left untreated will lead to symptoms and disease. TRUCHIROs locate and correct these interferences allowing your brain to communicate properly so your body can heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.
